Facebook for Kansas Libraries

A lot of new Kansas Library Facebook Groups and Pages have been popping up lately.  If you are on Facebook, this is a great way to share ideas, get help, or just meet others in the same profession.

Here are a few we have found and suggest checking out if they interest you:

Kansas Library Techies

Kansas Children’s Librarians

Kansas Librarians Group

Kansas Librarians for Teens

Kansas Young Adults Librarians Roundtable for KLA (KYAL) Group

Some of these groups are closed which means you will not be able to see any posts unless you are a member of the group.  Once you request to be a member and are approved you will be able to see the posts.  If a group is open and you are not a member you will be able to see the posts, but won’t be able to post.  Once you join an open group you will be able to post.

State Library of Kansas

Friends of Kansas Libraries (FOKL)

Southwest Kansas Library System

The Big 6 – eBooks in Libraries – Hachette, Macmillan, Penguin, HarperCollins, Random House, Simon & Schuster.  What do these publishers have in common? They are ALL making it difficult, if not impossible, for libraries to purchase ebooks. Those same six publishers are responsible for publishing nearly all the bestsellers. What can you do? Help us bring attention to the ebook bestsellers that are being blocked/restricted from library users.

Are there any pages or Groups we left off? If so tell us in the comments below.  We can’t wait to hear about your favorite Kansas library related Facebook Group or Page.  Even if your favorites aren’t Kansas related feel free to share those as well.

If you need any help with Facebook Pages, Groups, or just Facebook in general please feel free to call or email Janelle (jjarboe@swkls.org)at the SWKLS Office.
