Recommended Plugins:
- Akismet – Spam fighting, requires a free Akismet account to get a key for it to work
- Google Analyticator – way to include Google Analytics in your blog
- Google Analytics for WordPress – way to include Google Analytics in your blog
- WP-Stats – non-Google statistics plugin
- Image Widget gives you an easy to use image widget that takes an image and a link, does not require HTML coding to work
- Page Links To
- Use to have a page or post link to a url instead of a page on your site
- Jetpack
- Site statistics among other things. You will need a wordpress.com account for this. Most of you already have one. Contact Janelle for the login info for it.
Go to Plugins –> Add New and enter any of these plugins into the search bar, find the right one and click install. Some (like Akismet) may require additional configuration.
Forms:
Ninja Forms – Form processor, open source
Events/Calendar Plugins:
Events Manager – calendar of events, registration for events, creates many widgets to use to publicize events
Wordpress Editorial Calendar – way to plan out blog posts over a calendar interface
EventOn – WordPress Event Calendar Plugin (this plugin is $28) Coffey County Library is using this plugin on their site.
Not a plugin, but you can also create a Google Calendar and share the Google Calendar on a sidebar like on Stevens County’s Website or even in a page.
Misc/Social Media:
Jetpack – Large plugin that does a number of useful things. Great plugin to post to Facebook. Also works great for stats.
