The Southwest Regional Library System offers seven grant programs. Please see the pull down menu [on this tab] for more information on each program.
An Adovcacy Grant is available to public libraries in taxing counties and public libraries which contract for CE and one other service. Librarians must participate in advocacy training to receive this grant which may be used to defray the costs associated with legislative coffees and advocacy-related open houses and community cafes.
The Major Continuing Education (CE) is a competitive grant offered to all public libraries in taxing counties and public libraries which contract for Continuing Education/Training and at least one other service. Three grant windows are open each year and eligible libraries may apply for a maximum of $700. The SWKLS CE Grant Committee reviews and places the grant awards.
The CE Express is a minor grant available to reimburse public libraries twice per year for 50% of mileage to regional meetings or workshops. The CE Express grant is available on a first come, first served basis.
The Library Development Grant is available to public libraries located in counties in which SWKLS levies a tax. SWKLS Public Library Accreditation is a grant requirement.
The Major Tech Grant is a matching grant offered to all public libraries in taxing counties and public libraries which contract for Consulting and at least one other service. Two grant windows are open each year and eligible libraries may apply for one major grant per year. The maximum grant is $1,000 awarded on a first come, first served basis.
The Tech Express is a minor grant available to public libraries in taxing counties and public libraries contracting for Consulting and at least one other service. The purpose of the tech express grant is to assist libraries in immediate need of minor technologies. A maximum grant of $200 twice a year may be awarded by the SWKLS Tech Grant Committee.
Travel grants for SWKLS representation are available to SWKLS member librarians who participate in state-wide committees, library organizations, or library committees. The maximum grant is $250 and is available on a first come, first served basis.
The purpose of the BPH Presentation grant is to encourage local library staff to present information related to the Talking Books program to organizations in their service area. SWKLS member libraries may apply for up to two BPH Presentation grants per year. BPH Presentation grants are $50. Please fill out this form after your presentation and return it to the SWKLS office. BPH Presentation grant checks will be distributed mid-month either after the monthly board meeting or interim check approval.
