Have you heard of Wordle?
Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
On the Wordle site you can create your own Wordle by inputting your own phrases, sentences, or words. You also have the option of generating your own Wordle from any blog by entering the url into the generator tool. If your library has a WordPress site this will work with it!
Here is a Wordle I created from our website:
Angie from Montezuma has created a Summer Reading Wordle using these words:
Dream
Big
Read
Summer
Reading
Montezuma
She also put the word “read” in several times to give it emphasis. She is thinking of putting the design on Summer Reading t-shirts and also post posters of the image around the library. What are some ways you would use a Wordle?
